It has been a couple of very busy weeks for me. I had two out of town trips on back to back weekends. The first was to New Mexico, both Albuquerque and Santa Fe, for the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies. I am the elected delegate from Oregon and have the honor of representing our state society on the board of the Western Federation. I will also plan the exhibition when it is our turn to host in 2017. If you happen to be near Albuquerque, don’t miss this fabulous show!

This past weekend I slipped away for a quick trip to the coast, including a 2 hour workshop with Acrylic painter William Park. The workshop was hosted by the Sitka Center for Art & Ecology… a beautiful, natural setting on Cascade Head amidst the rain forest. Bill is finishing up a six week residency there, so we had a chance to see the work he’s been doing as well as glean some of his wisdom and techniques for texture and rhythm in painting. We also had a chance to see a performance by two more of the artists doing residencies at Sitka: Tish Berlin and Frances Blaker. I’ve included a video clip of their beautiful music. I hope you’ll enjoy the photos, etc. I thought it was easier to upload a slide show than to do them one at a time, but when they compressed, the quality suffered a little bit. Live and learn! The quality really messed up the slide with the elevation at the top of Sandia peak… it’s over 10,300 ft.! What a wonderful view for dinner. Thanks to our hosts in New Mexico for a wonderful weekend!
