Little by little my garden is starting to fill in. This is the time of year when all the weeding and planting starts to pay off, and these last few days of summer become even sweeter with knowing that they will soon be changing to fall. I thought I’d share a couple of photos of my grass border before:

Can you almost smell the honeysuckle and sweet peas?
I’m drinking in the sun, soaking in the smells and digging my hands deep in the soil to nourish my gardener’s spirit enough to last all winter. I’m thinking of family and friends who gave me the gardening bug, missing those who are no longer with us.
My favorite time is the early evening, just before dusk, when I go out to harvest vegetables for the table, collect the eggs and care for the animals. Our new hens have started to lay, sweet little baby sized eggs in soft brown shades. (The carton was given to us by a neighbor. I would never buy styrofoam!) It seems everyone thinks we must be swimming in eggs, but we eat them all ourselves somehow!
Are you opening a B&B? If so, I’m coming!
You are so funny
Of course you are welcome any time Margaret! I loved our last get-together & say we’re due for another one!
Your plantings are looking great– good to show the before and after pictures… those passion flowers are amazing– and the jam.. looks yummy!
Thanks Donna,
I know you are a big fan of specialty jams !
Lovely garden, lovely thoughts…Thanks Ruth.
Those passion flowers are amazing! They look like aliens from another galaxy…very beautiful, everything.
Thanks Blenda! They do look kind of futuristic, don’t they?
Ruth your work is beautiful! I am just starting to go through the links on the hot wax yahoo site. I can see a natural fit between your current work and encaustics! How exciting this will be!
Thanks Laura! I’m going to pop over to your blog & visit
