I just returned from Salt Lake City to the good news that “Vessel” was accepted to the Watercolor Society of Oregon’s Fall Transparent Watercolor exhibition in Bandon. I will be excited to see the show, which features 80 of the best examples of watercolor from across the sate.  When the show gets closer, I will publish all the details.

My workshop in Salt Lake City was fantastic and I really enjoyed all the students. I forgot to take pictures till late in the day on Saturday, so I missed getting shots of everyone… but here are a few of the happy participants. They all worked hard and took some painting risks to get out of their normal routines, creating some exciting paintings in the process! But I always feel like it is more important that new ideas are hatched rather than good paintings. I think everyone got something out of it.

My host, Colleen Reynolds, had the perfect setup ready for me to show slides and did so much to make the class a success. Thanks so much Colleen! And I loved staying with my cousin Lucy and her husband. Their home was beautiful, comfortable and a very convenient base. I loved surprising Lucy with one of her favorite paintings that she’d commented on from my website!

The other thing I loved about being in SLC was re-connecting with art friends from my experiences at Western Federation. I was lucky enough to go gallery hopping with my friend Sue Martin in SLC and with Maura Naughton and Nancy Maxfield Lund in Park City. We saw some inspiring work, and I’m ready to get back to the studio.

I’m really looking forward to my next workshop, here in my own studio: ‘Columbus Day Explorer’s Session’ October 12-14, 2013 from 9:30- 3:30. For the adventurous artist, this three day workshop will help you take risks with your painting. Join me for inspiring demonstrations, exercises to stimulate freedom of expression and camaraderie in my comfortable Oregon City Studio. Class size limited to 8, assuring you one-on-one attention. All water based media welcome. Just $185 for three exciting days.  I would love to have you join me! Click on the link above to register, and feel free to share the information with a friend.
