I showed a few of my recent efforts in oil to my critique group this week. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that they felt this new media looked very similar to my work in other media. Since I’m just learning some of the properties of oil paints, this was a welcome comment. I’d be interested to hear what you think.
This was painted from the view looking out my studio window into the underbrush of the pasture. Winter light is so soft here. Happy Saint Patrick’s Day to you!
It is beautiful, Ruth! And you are just beginning in oil?, I saw it first as a thumbnail (which is how I critique my own work) and was immediately smitten!
Thank you Nancy 🙂 I like to look at the thumbnails too. It really gives a sense of the overall design, doesn’t it?
Very nice painting, and has the mood/style of your other landscapes. Way to start the learning curve, and inspiration for me pull out my oils for another go.
Thanks Bruce!
This is very nice and it does look much like your other work. I love the warm light. . .gives the scene so much depth. I look forward to seeing more oils from you and to hearing about your experiences with them.
Thaks Hal!
I think you have done a beautiful job – I can’t believe this is new for you from the look of this painting. I love all of it, especially the texture!
This medium really suits you!
Thanks Susan & Kathleen 🙂
