I spent the better part of the day today at Mary Lou Zeek’s Gallery in Salem. My part of Edward Hopper’s “Cape Cod Morning” is now complete. It was nice to see a few patrons come by and to enjoy the company of the great gallery girls 🙂 It was a good day to focus on art given the state of the stock market… ugh. Especially being surrounded by all the inspiring art 🙂 In the background of the above image is a painting by Mark Clarke. Love his work!
It was nice and sunny by the time I left, and we had opened the door of the gallery, letting in the crisp, cool air. I also had a chance to connect with my daughter for lunch. She is a freshman at Willamette University, and had all kinds of fun college stories to relate 🙂 I’m looking forward to Parent’s weekend in a couple of weeks! Here’s a pic of me with my pup Lola and the finished section: mine is on the top 1/3 of the painting on the left… I painted in watercolor on paper, mounted the paper on the panel and sealed it with Cold Wax Medium. I will post a pic of the completed work, but if you’d like more frequent updates, you can check the gallery website above.
Miss Ruth,
We LOVED having you at the gallery! ml
Thanks Mary Lou! I loved being there! (And thanks for taking pics & letting me cross-post…)

This is so neat! It must be so much fun to have all the different artists on the same canvas! My 12 year old son was part of a class project done the same way when they were studying a famous artist. They reproduced a Van Gogh in something like 36 A4 pieces, and then put it up on the wall. Thanks for posting the link to your blog!
“I can see the artist, but where is the collaborative painting?”
Hi Michael, Thanks for looking! The painting is just to the right of the second image… still in progress so my part is only 10×11 inches. It may be hard to see on the one I’m painting on. – Ruth
What an event! This collaboration is so unique and interesting. Thank you for sharing!
Hope you are well.
Susan
Thanks Susan! I’m really looking forward to seeing the finised painting. They all turn out so differently! I’m really enjoying the crisp all weather 🙂
