I’m getting ready for a big trip, and looking forward to seeing some inspiring art while I’m away. My daughter & I plan to fly to NYC this week, spending a few days and then traveling to Washington, D.C. We are celebrating her graduation from college. Both of us are interested in art & gardening, so we should have plenty to keep us busy! I’m so lucky my husband and older daughter will be able to stay home & take care of the farm while I’m away.
The image above was inspired by a trip to the Museum of Costume in Bath, UK several years back. It is always interesting to me how we as artists come across subjects for our paintings. When I’m not painting, I’m constantly filling the well of inspiration by looking at other art, and considering new subjects for my own art. I didn’t expect to come across inspiration at this particular museum, but when I returned home the subject matter seemed to fit my own internal dialogue.
Half the fun has been planning the trip and considering the many possibilities. I am particularly excited to see the big Diebenkorn exhibition at the Corcoran Gallery in D.C.
I’m hoping that when I return I will have good news about my October class for Art & Soul in Portland! Be sure to email me if you are considering signing up. I’m happy to answer any questions you might have. I will have access to email while I’m away. Whatever your plans for the next week or so, I hope they include some time to soak up inspiration! I will try to post while I’m gone, but don’t worry if I don’t get to it 🙂
Have a WONDERFUL time with your daughter in NYC & DC! Take lots of pics at the Diebenkorn exhibit (I’m sooooo envious!)
Thanks Norene & Margaret! I’m really looking forward to everything but the heat. We’ve had such a nice cool week here, I know it is going to be a rude shock!
What a great trip you have ahead. My visit to NYC last winter was so wonderful and also full of museums.
