This painting has been in process for a while, and I finally have had time to finish it this week. I began by using GelliPrint collage pieces printed with the Gelli-Plate. I love the textural and color effects that the printing process achieves. In this case, I used some of the pattern in the GelliPrint to suggest seeds or grain. I also did some calligraphic mark-making to suggest the activity of harvest.
As the painting progressed I also used some #gelli-plate printing on the piece itself. I love layering the color, working back and forth between the golds, tans, yellows and turquoises, with just a few pops of red-orange.
I hope you can join me for a 3 day Gelli-Printing Extravaganza, November 6, 7 & 8th, 2014 at the Village Gallery of Arts. I have so many cool ideas and techniques to share!
One of the best things about #Gelli-Plate printing is the unexpected nature of the prints you pull. It really opens up the creative process, and requires absolutely no previous experience for success. On the other hand, experienced artists will discover valuable techniques and surprises too! This is the kind of class that really exemplifies the fun in art.
