We had a nice surprise at critique last night! John had brought his pipes (since we were way out in the country and wouldn’t be disturbing anyone). He played a couple of great songs. One thing I learned is that bagpipe music isn’t written… it’s all memorized!

This critique group has a longstanding tradition that when a new member joins, we “pipe them in”. As members have died over the years, “we pipe them out”. Having John play reminded me of my first meeting with this superb group of artists, and gave me a feeling of warm gratitude for the friendship and wisdom the group has brought for me!
