Friday evening my mother & I stopped in at Hughes Water Gardens on Stafford Rd. in Wilsonville for the annual Waterlily Festival. We enjoyed the beautiful gardens, and so did my little dog Lola! One of the employees suggested she try out a perch on this huge Victoria Lily Pad… and she was so cute, I had to share her picture! These plants are so amazing, they look like they belong in the Little Shop of Horrors! The festival runs through August 3rd. Check out the link above for a schedule of events and a link to watch a video of the Victoria Lily in bloom.
Mom found a great papyrus for her garden and we won some koi food in the raffle! Also we ran into art buddy and fellow twin mom Molly Reeves who had some paintings in the show in the main building. It was a beautiful night to be out & about, and the music, the gardens, the light were enchanting!
Wow, what beautiful photos. I had no idea this place was right in our backyard. Lola looks quite proud of herself on the lilypad! xo
I know… Hughes is a well kept secret. You’d never know it was so wonderful from the road. My sister lives just 1/4 mile away & I had never been there!
Awesome photos of Lola on the lilypad! I sometimes jog down and through Hughes in the early morning. Love their ponds and plantings. Aren’t those lilies amazing.

Chris Isacc at Edgefield was a fun night tonight…Thanks again.
Ruth,
I loved your pics of the lilies, and found your dog’s portrait hilarious. Actually you could probably sell it.
On your previous posts, I really enjoy seeing the before and afters. Your art is so lovely.
If you keep viewing my blog, you’ll see I keep searching, but the pattern painting is something worth working at, I think. Finding a way to use that theme plein air was quite challenging.
I sent in images of both my Crow Man paintings to the WSO.
Keep blogging,
Margaret
Lola is so cute and little. If my cat got on that big green leaf she would sink. Love the rest of your pics.
