At my last workshop in Corvallis, a few students asked if I offered an online Critique. It is something I’ve been considering for a while, as a couple of friends do it. I think it is a great way to check in with a mentor and see how they feel your work is progressing.
A critique is:
- a review of how a painting ‘reads’ from an experienced and unbiased source.
- an opportunity for painters who cannot commit their time to a weekly class, but would benefit greatly from the input of an experienced instructor.
- a critical review of your work, touching on both the strengths and weak points of the work.
- a unique experience and a valuable tool to improve your paintings.
- a chance for you to broaden your artistic horizons and to gain perspective on your work, at your convenience.
My twenty+ years of experience as an artist and instructor make me confident that I can provide valuable feedback on your paintings. The fact that artists are asking for this service gave me the impetus to offer it.
To get started, click the paypal button below. Please choose your best work and limit your selections to 12 recent pieces. Once payment is received, I will send instructions for submitting your images. Within 5-7 days you will receive your critique by email.
I will provide written and/or video critique on the technique, design, and content of each painting, as well as your general direction. I may ask questions to clarify your intent or suggest exercises for improvement or exploration. All styles and subject matter including oil, acrylic, watermedia, and collage with abstraction, figurative, landscape and still life are accepted.
