Every once in a while, things fall into place. I recently heard from a woman in Texas who was interested in the above painting. She found my website through my friend Bonnie Taylor Talbot’s website, I Paint Pictures. To make a long story short, I made a sale from my website! It is always gratifying to know that your work touches someone enough to buy it. Also, today I made my first sale of a fine art print on Etsy.com! I am thinking of Katy and hoping she will enjoy her purchase very much! If you like, you can check out my shop from the link on my sidebar.
Of course, that spurred me to spend some time on the Etsy site… finding lots of beautiful things to drool over. I need to get up to the studio. Lots to do! I got some good suggestions for a painting in progress last night at my critique group, and I’m looking forward to finishing it today! Also, I need to make the final decision about what to enter for the AWS exhibition coming up. The above image was a contender before it sold. Now I’m vacillating between “Mother & Daughter” and “Fish Market”. Do you have a preference?

I like fish market or farmers daughter… I like the detail on the fish market and the vibrant colors in farmers daughter.
Thanks Martha 🙂
I think they are all wonderful. I vote for Fish Market. I think Bluebird is amazing. That is terrific that you sold it through your web site!
Thanks Tammy!
Hm…either Farmer’s Daughter or Mother & Daughter–both are grand in different ways!
I vote for Farmers Daughter. It reminds me more of your earlier paintings, but its so clean and I love the movement in the donkey tail, her arm, and the branches. You’re golden with any of these though, some of my favorites for sure!!
Love you,
-A
Ruth, I really like the Fish Market – interesting subject, lots of ‘story’ to be told. The whites make a nice vertical and diagonal to contrast with the darks.
Thanks guys!
Mother and Daughter makes the me think. I am being picky to comment on the length of the woman’s arm hanging down. If it is intentional, both figures are anatomically correct, except for the one arm. When you exagerrated arthritic hands, in a painting you did years ago, it worked for me. This is just a bit too distorted and that swings my vote to the Fish Market.
Congrats on your sales!
Hi Ruth,
I think I like your Mother/Daughter painting the best. So much like so many mothers and daughters that you see in the market or the shopping mall. Reminds me of my husband’s sister and her daughter. Together but not together. Love all your paintings.

Thanks Linda… I’m working on the long arm to see if it can be fixed. Thanks Jill 😉
Hi Ruth,
Congratulations on your sale! It’s nice to hear you feeling more positive about your art. It’s so lovely and personal.
I like the relationship in Mother and Daughter, but like Linda, the length of the arm has bothered me.
Fish Market has a great design and wonderful rich colors. Both good paintings in my book.
If you want another comment, I am leaning toward the fish market, it draws me in. The young girl seems to be at peace and in her own zone cleaning the fish, just like the artist was when she was painting this picture :-).
Thanks Jodi & Margaret! Keep the comments coming! I still haven’t decided 🙂
It was a hard pick. I was emotionally drawn into Mother and Daughter so that is what I picked. But like them all! Fun blog! Thanks for sharing. csp
Your new home looks great! I can’t imagine having to get organized to make a move! Yet I know if I live long enough it will have to happen. 36 years in one home is way too long to think about it! csp
Thanks Charlotte! Thanks for voting on the AWS issue too 🙂 Still trying to decide!
