Q: What’s better in mid-winter than a Santa Barbara Getaway?
A: An Art Workshop Getaway in Santa Barbara!
I just returned from 10 fun-filled days, painting in Santa Barbara. The first week was devoted to a wonderful workshop with master artist, Skip Lawrence. It has been a couple of years since my last class with Skip, and I found the inspiration and feedback on my work to be a big boost.
My friend, Ruth Ellen Hoag was workshop coordinator. She secured a wonderful work space for the class… a very large Sunday School room, just two blocks from the hotel where many of the students stayed. Ken & Stephanie Goldman (President and Secretary of the National Watercolor Society) enjoyed the workshop right alongside us.
Here are a few paintings that resulted from my work there:
After a weekend that saw us making a quick trip to Los Angeles to catch the LA Philharmonic, it was my turn to teach a workshop. My friend Ruth Ellen Hoag was host for both workshops. She is a fabulous teacher in her own right, and many of her students were in my class. The workshop students were wonderful, and the paintings above, plus one other, went home as inspiration for the buyers.
Here’s a picture of my sweet friend Ruth and her beautiful (LARGE) work! I hope you’ll think about joining us in May, when Ruth Ellen Hoag will be coming to Wilsonville, Oregon to teach. Read all about her workshop here. You’ll also find information on the workshops page about my August Cold Wax and Oil Painting class in the Columbia River Gorge. Registration begins April 2nd.
