Six hard-working, enthusiastic painters converged here at my studio this weekend for our Mixed-Media Spark Session. We painted, experimented, snacked, ate and shared for three full days. Each participant took risks, stuck it out through the hard phases and came up with some successful paintings and, more importantly, ideas for future exploration. I’m sorry I didn’t get pictures of each artists’ work 🙁 But I think everyone was happy with the class. I know I was extremely pleased with their efforts!
Here are some shots from the weekend. I know they may look like they were done by 3 different artists, but I was attempting to generate ideas for new approaches to painting, and some of the approaches were even new to me!
Thanks, Ruth
Another excellent workshop! I learned some new methods, worked with terrific people and got some good painting done. What I really like about your Spark Sessions is the opportunity to experiment with new approaches that I simply wouldn’t try on my own. . .and some of these I’ll definitely use in my paintings in the future. Had I not come and tried them, I’d not have them to use.
Working for a couple of days with talented painters is a pleasant break from the solitude of the studio. Plus there is the payoff that all of us grow. I saw some great work at the Spark Session and made some new friends.
Thanks for opening your studio to us and for providing guidance and encouragement. I’m already looking forward to the next session.
Hal
Thanks Hal! I appreciate your support and your hard work in the studio. Looking forward to seeing the work that comes from this!
It looks like you had a bang-up time. I also had a great time teaching a workshop last, but was sure pooped out by yesterday afternoon.
Thanks Margaret! It takes quite a bit of energy, doesn’t it!? But is sure feels good to see the light bulbs come on for people 🙂
Ruth, I love the collage version of your garden painting! What an innovative approach to things. I know several of my students took your Spark session, so I’ll look forward to seeing their finished pieces. Liz
Hi Liz,
Thank you 🙂 I really appreciate you encouraging your students to come! They were adventurous painters & creative spirits 🙂
Ruth,
Thanks for sharing your paintings from your Spark Session.
You have a way of inspiring people to reach beyond where they are.
