I’m back from an extended trip to the east coast, and truly enjoying being back in the studio. My trip offered the double luxury of scads of art exposure and time with my beautiful daughter. It was so nice to be with someone who has the same passion for art. We took in three musicals, countless good meals, and a total of 14 Museums in 9 days. Highlights included the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, which we visited twice and the National Gallery in Washington, D.C. which also got a double visit from us. Also in D.C., the Corcoran had a huge exhibit of Richard Diebenkorn’s Ocean Park Series, and The Phillips Collection had a fabulous show featuring Jasper Johns.
I also got a chance to visit with Seth Apter at the Parallax Art Fair. It was great to see some of the working artists of New York and meet a fellow blogger in the flesh. As an additional surprise, later in the week I found Seth’s book The Pulse of Mixed Media in the books section of the National Gallery!
I came home inspired and ready to conquer the art world! As I get my photos uploaded and sorted I will be posting more highlights from the trip. For now, here is a photo of my daughter and I in the installation created by Leo Villareal at the National Gallery in D.C.. Enjoy your weekend!
It was such a pleasure to meet you Ruth and to meet your daughter as well. I always enjoy meeting my online friends in person. Your trip sounds amazing and you really packed in the art! Well done! Seth
Thanks Seth! I really enjoyed meeting you at Parallax! Hope to see you when you come to Portland in the fall!
Sounds like you had a WONDERFUL and very special time with your daughter!
Yes Norene! It is a treasured memory and we are so lucky to have been able to do it!
What a great trip! I follow Seth, too. Life-long memories for you and daughter. Love the posted work. Such a restful color palette.
Thanks Susan! I was attempting something a bit different, glad to hear you think it came off well.
