The sun is shining and I’m excited to be out in it this afternoon. I am planning a drawing expedition with a friend. My recent trip to Arizona re-enforced the importance of spending time with art friends and getting out into nature. I so enjoyed seeing this part of the country… the amazing art, the rock formations, the stories shared in the car and the great meals together. Here are a few photos of the trip:
Two galleries that we visited I was particularly impressed with were: The Lanning Gallery in Sedona, especially the work of Mark English, and The Windrush Gallery, especially the work of William Wray.
How fun that must have been! Sedona is beautiful! I hear you’ll be in Santa Barbara in April for Skip’s workshop…I look forward to seeing you again!
Thanks Norene! I’m really looking forward to it too!
Oh Ruth, what a lovely trip. I’m jealous.
Hi Margaret,
It was wonderful. Your NYC trip was pretty cool too though!
Looks like a fun trip. Thanks for introducing us to the works of the two artists. I especially like Mark English’s work and enjoyed more at http://www.markenglishonline.com/images01.htm Makes me want to add collage to more of my paintings!
You’re welcome Hal! You would love William Wray’s paintings in person too. The color really shimmers.
And Thanks for the second link to Mark English’s website. I’m really tempted to buy his book!
I do like William Wray’s work also, but am more drawn to the English’s abstraction than to his realism. Wray’s still lifes on http://williamwray.com/still.html are pretty quirky and I will admit that I enjoyed Ren and Stimpy which he worked on!
Great memories, Ruth. I still see that brilliant blue sky and the red rocks in my mind.
Thanks for all you did to get us there.
Linda
