“Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat!
Please to put a penny in the old man’s hat,
Please to put a penny in the old man’s hat!
If you have no penny, a half-penny will do
If you have no ha-penny then God Bless You.
If you have no ha-penny then God Bless You!”
If you haven’t ever heard the carol above, you can see it in the video below. The holidays are the perfect time for young voices in chorus 🙂
It’s the season for sharing, and I thought I’d post a few pictures of what I’ve been up to! One of the reasons I love the carol above, it that it reminds me that giving is more than just cards and presents for friends and family… it’s a time to remember those less fortunate than ourselves. One blog I’ve been enjoying lately in this regard is “My Month of Hundreds” by Jill Ginsburg. It really helps to remember that everyone in need has their own unique story.
Yesterday I took part in wrapping gifts for kids who are graduating from the foster-care system. Our book group adopted one such youth this year in lieu of exchanging gifts. Here are some photos from the wrapping party. It was definitely a ‘feel good’ day!
I’ve also been doing my fair share of entertaining…. I hosted my critique group Christmas party & painting exchange as well as my book group’s celebration. Now that the parties are over here, I am determined to get up to the studio & get some artwork done! I’ve been doing a lot of my shopping online this year, which is saving me a huge amount of time! Love it! If you haven’t tried it, you should 🙂 You don’t even get wet or cold! I’m particularly fond of shopping on Etsy for handmade & unique gifts. Tonight I’ll be heading out for a couple of studio sales in my area. Who knows what I might find 🙂 Happy Holidays to you & yours!
I made my first purchase on Etsy a week ago. Thanks for the prodding.
There are some great handmade & vintage items aren’t there Lucy? I’ve made several purchases, and have many more on my wish list!
