I can’t believe it has been so long since I posted here! It has been a crazy few weeks, and I just finished teaching two workshops. I have photos finally downloaded from the first, the January Spark Session here in my studio.
Sadly, I forgot to take photos at the second workshop, which was held Friday in Lake Oswego for the Buffalo Grass Art Society. This is the second time I’ve taught for this group of excellent painters. It was slightly intimidating to try to inspire a group that sees a different instructor each month. I spent some quality time preparing my demonstration.
I demonstrated both in Watercolor and Acrylic. My acrylic started with black gesso on canvas and included some collaged prints from my gelli-plate. I’ve been enjoying experimenting with that. I think the Buffalos enjoyed seeing that the most, as it was new to most of them. Several artists had bought one, and I think others will be doing the same 🙂
It is a rewarding experience to teach adults, as they are always so appreciative of the shared information. Some of the comments I received are almost better than the paycheck!
“I left feeling excited and inspired about my art and a new approach to my creative process.”
“I felt you stimulated the class’s interest with all the questions they asked and how attentive they were. You certainly had a lot of info to give us and were so willing to share it.”
“My overall learning experience was better due to several types of teaching methods—- personal art evaluations, teaching time, reference examples/materials and frequent desk critiques.”
If you have been thinking of taking a workshop, my February workshop “More than Ordinary” is more than half full already. Don’t miss this opportunity for inspiration and personal interaction. Register today at the link above! This class would make a great gift for your sweetheart! So many teachers are moving to online classes, because they can reach more people more conveniently. I don’t think the personal art experience is dead yet, though!
This class will focus on using personal color and line to move your paintings into more expressive territory. All subjects, mediums and ability levels are welcome. Learn more about my classes and my studio here.
Check back next week for images of my finished paintings from both workshops. I have some fine-tuning to do before they are camera ready 🙂
Ruth, I’m so glad to see you doing more workshops. First because more artists will enjoy the benefit of your instruction. Second because you enjoy teaching which shows. Keep inspiring!
Thank you Hal! I hope your painting is going well 🙂
Congratulations on your successful workshops.
