I spent yesterday digging out the clutter of Christmas in preparation for hosting my critique group here today. It feels so strange to have nothing to show to my peers. My only production in the studio has been my project for the 100 artists show at Mary Lou Zeek Gallery in Salem, Oregon. That had to be delivered this weekend 🙁
The art quote that most resonates for me today is
If I just work when the spirit moves me, the spirit will ignore me. –Carolyn Forche
I feel like putting up a painting, so here is one from good ‘ole 2008. This is based on an old snapshot of my husband’s grandmother, Grace, and her mom, Mameo. I loved their gesture, and I’ve done quite a few paintings of them. Grace was so sassy, even in old age. I really loved knowing her.
