Another painting of the same falls from my trip to Yellowstone with my son. I enjoy working in a series, and this painting has been calling to me recently. You can see the first version here, and the second became Water Witch. This time I decided to try using a warm toned underpainting (bright orange). Can you see it peeking through? I also did most of the painting using a palette knife. I’m finding it is a wonderful way to create random texture. As always, your comments are appreciated!

You are painting and posting almost daily–what a challenge. This painting’s colors remind me of the Hudson Valley artists, so I guess it evokes a past time for me.
Thanks Margaret. Thie winter is always my most productive time in the studio. I don’t have the distraction of the garden or family around. I look at it as my chance to get a long strtch of work done.
Yellowstone is one of my favorite National Parks!! I love the movement and texture you have created with this painting — makes me want to go there myself. With my sons would be even better!! Lucky you.
Thank you Katherine!
It was a teip of a lifetime…
