I took another shot of this painting last night, trying to get the exposure right. Sometimes the photography is more challenging than the painting. I’m hoping to enter this in the Northwest Watercolor Society’s Membership show. You will recognize it as being very similar to the painting in this post. I like the sense of mystery it evokes, the soft face. The bluebird is symbolic of happiness, trying to keep it close. My critique group chose this as their favorite of my recent works. It is a difficult one to photograph because of the glare on the darkest paint areas… they show up lighter. Frustrating! Does anyone have any hints to prevent this?
I’m delivering my Hospital proposal today, picking up slides, packing, groceries, etc. I’m glad it will be cooler 🙂 Looking forward to my class coming up!
Hi Ruth,
I hope you are having a fabulous summer! This piece is absolutely breathtaking — I am such a fan of your style!

Thanks Susan! The feeling is mutual! I love following your blog… your images are to die for. The most recent one of your son at the beach brings tears to my eyes. Mine are getting ready to hit the road for college for the first time, so thinking back to 5 yrs old is so nostalgic for me!
